Terms of use
Version 2026-10-24. Written in plain English. If anything here is unclear, ask us.
Draft: these terms are a starting point and should be reviewed by a legal adviser before launch.
1. What Family Photos is
Family Photos is a private place for families to keep and share photos. It is not a social network: there's no public profile, feed or search, and your galleries are only seen by people you share them with.
2. Your account
- You sign in with your email address. Keep access to that email safe, because anyone who can read it can sign in as you.
- You must be 16 or over to create an account. Younger children can be given access by a parent or guardian, who is responsible for them.
- One person per account. Don't sign in as someone else.
3. Your photos stay yours
- You keep all rights to the photos you upload. We don't sell them, use them for advertising or use them to train AI.
- You give us permission only to store, resize and show your photos to the people you've shared them with, so the service can work.
- Only upload photos you took, or have permission to share. Be thoughtful about photos of other people's children, and respect it if someone asks you to remove a photo of them.
4. Sharing
- Gallery owners decide who can see a gallery and who can add to it, and can remove anyone at any time.
- Anyone with an event share link can see that gallery until the link expires or is turned off. Only share links with people you trust, and turn them off when the event is over.
- People you share with can download photos. Once downloaded, we can't control what they do with them.
- If you add photos to someone else's gallery, the gallery owner can remove them, and they're deleted if the owner deletes the gallery.
5. Storage and payment
- Every account gets 500 MB of storage free. This counts the photos you upload, wherever you add them.
- When you are full you can't upload more until you delete photos or get more space. We never delete photos because you are over your limit.
- Extra storage: Extra storage (pricing to be confirmed). Prices will be shown clearly before you pay, and you can cancel any time. If you stop paying, your photos stay viewable, but you can't add more until you are back under the free limit.
6. Keep it friendly and legal
Follow our house rules. We may remove content or close accounts that break them, and we will report illegal content (in particular any sexual content involving children) to the authorities.
7. Looking after your photos
We take care to keep the service running and your photos safe, but we can't promise it will never go wrong. Please keep your own copies of photos that matter to you; this should not be your only backup.
8. Leaving
You can delete your account at any time from your account page. That deletes your galleries and your photos. We may close accounts that have been unused for more than 2 years, after emailing you at least 30 days beforehand.
9. Changes
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you and ask you to agree again next time you sign in.
